DEFECTIVE SIGN
CAUSES FIRE IN THE ROOF OF LOCAL RESTAURANT |
|
May 19, 2001
-
At 1003 hrs,
Volunteers from the City responded with Wagon,
Tower, and Chief 1 to 10691 Davidson Place in Prince
William County for a fire reported in the roof of
the Don Pablos. Engine 11-1 arrived on the scene and
reported smoke showing from behind the roof facade.
An investigation inside found an activated sprinkler
head and minimal smoke conditions. Crews from 11 and
Tower 1 laddered the building and found fire in the
facade of the roof. The Tower used saws and hooks to
open up the roof, exposing all the fire so the
Engine 11-1's crew could extinguish it. The Wagon's
crew maintained a position in the lobby. The fire
was caused by a short circuit in the Don Pablos
sign, which spread to the all-wood facade wall and
roof area. The fire was contained to the roof area.
The Wagon assisted with overhaul and cleared within
the hour while the Tower remained on scene until
1156 hrs. |
