Public Education Presentations |
|
 |
The Manassas Volunteer Fire Company would be happy to have
firefighters to speak to your group on a range of
topics including fire and household safety, the day
to day activities of a firefighter, becoming a
firefighter or other related topics. |
|
This is a very well-liked opportunity for many
groups, such as scout troops, birthday parties, and
school groups. Manassas firefighters will show you
our station, let you check out our fire trucks and
even demonstrate some of our equipment. During these
tours we will also give a talk about fire safety and
show the gear that firefighters wear. |
 |
 |
Upon request, the Manassas Volunteer Fire Company
will bring a fire truck to most public events. The
crew will be available to explain the various
functions of the apparatus as well as answer
questions regarding firefighting and fire safety.
|
|
Manassas firefighters welcome any opportunity to
speak to school groups. During these presentations,
firefighters will present age-appropriate
information for the students. For younger children,
firefighters teach basic fire safety information,
show them the fire engine and dress out in full
protective gear. We try to emphasize that
firefighters are the children's friend and that they
should not fear them during an emergency. Topics for
older students include more specific fire and
household safety information. |
 |
|
 |
Anyone is welcome to visit the firehouse during
normal business hours however; we request that
events are scheduled 2 weeks in advance. To set up
your public education event, please call our station
during normal business hours at (703) 368-6211.
Please note that apparatus and the firefighters
assigned to them may be required to leave the event
to respond to emergencies. |
