In it's over 125 years of service the goal of the Manassas Volunteer Fire Company has been to serve the community by protecting life and property. We are able to do that through both the generous donations of the time put in by our volunteers and from the support of our community and local businesses.
Did you know? -The Manassas Volunteer Fire company is staffed with everyday people with full time day jobs just like yours, their time is generously donated to help the residents of the City of Manassas and surrounding areas.
Nationwide, volunteer fire departments save municipalities, and taxpayers, $139.8 billion per year in firefighting costs, according to a 2014 report from the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA)
Just meeting the minimum staffing requirements a volunteer firefighter will put in 1080 hours a year. This doesn't include additional training's, meetings, or continuing education classes.
The members of the Manassas Volunteer Fire Company work together with the Greater Manassas Volunteer Rescue Squad and the the City of Manassas fire and rescue department to respond to over 4000 fire service calls annually.
The average cost to equip a new firefighter is over $12,000. This doesn't include the costs for training, insurance, or building and apparatus maintenance. These costs are covered through fundraising events and the generosity of donations like yours.
